"Lupines" These beauties were found along the highways in Newfoundland. Lupines are in the legume family. In their natural state, they have adapted to sub-arctic climates like in Alaska and Iceland, arid climates of east Africa and Mexico, as well as sub-tropical parts of South America and the USA. They have a deep root system that can tolerate infertile soil. The lupines that grow wild are popular for child portraits in the sunshine.
