Ramblin' Girl Art Project - part 2

"Ramblin' Girl" - My 2023 (and beyond) Art Project

Ramblin' Girl's makeover is coming along nicely. While I was away dog-sitting in Sooke earlier this year, I had the 5 pieces of frame, fork, fenders, and chain guard powdercoated at RCJ Powdercoating in Prince George.

If you read my previous blog post (thank you!) you would know that Ramblin' Girl is my new Art Project for this year. She was my first bicycle, earned by picking beer bottles along the side of the road one winter back in Nova Scotia in 1968. (yes, last century!)

So I am now making time to be more creative and maybe slow down my process so I get more enjoyment out of everyday living. Who knows just how many of those days we have, right? Time to make the most of them.

Above, I'm happily sitting with my bicycle parts on the floor of my studio. The helmet and new brown seat were Christmas gifts from my kids. The cream 26" tires have a reflective strip around them, bonus! I didn't have that as a child. Nor did we have to wear helmets back then. Next on the to-do list is to polish up the chrome parts so I can assemble her.

Now that the chain guard no longer identifies my childhood name, I am thinking of painting "Ramblin' Girl" on it. What do you think?

Until next time,
