Love Locks No 1

Often we get a feeling of nostalgia when looking at old photographs. Reminding us of times gone by, better times, making us long for those days during a time or place of happy associations.

It was a drizzly day by the New Westminster Quay when I came across this scene and I knew at once I wanted to photograph them this way. The locks reminded me of the old bike lock I had for my CCM that I was able to get after a spring of picking pop and beer bottles along the old backroads in Nova Scotia. I had to earn half for my parents to agree to pay the other half, and I did. I'm proud to say I still own that bike over 50 years later.

This image, "Love Locks No 1" is the first in a series of three available up to 18"x12" unframed. Matted and framed, they look nostalgic on a gallery wall. The complementary colours of warm yellows and cool blue-green tones fits well with the trendy palettes of many homes today.

What are you nostalgic for? I'd love to hear from you. Perhaps I have something in my archives that would make another series of images for all to enjoy.

Until next time,

Terrill
