KENDALL LIPSETT
I had been artistic as long as I can remember but only accepted my creativity as a calling after a cancer diagnosis in 2017. This was just the spark I needed to reconnect with my joy! And my aunt, Terrill Bodner, has been encouraging this creative flame, as well as inspiring me with her own photography.
I had always loved drawing and painting in
my youth. Yet somehow, life conditioning had pushed my love of art to the side,
and for many years my creativity was dimmed. A blessing in the disguise of a
cancer diagnosis helped me realize that I must live vibrantly each day, trust
my inner guidance, create inspiring artwork to bring joy to myself and others,
and take actions to show that we can all make a positive difference in our
world. I am grateful for the space and time I needed for healing and
reconnecting with myself, and I am now cultivating positive change and
nurturing that creative spark back into my life. I feel so fortunate to live
and paint in Prince George, British Columbia where there is an abundance of
wildlife and nature all around to inspire me. I am excited to see where this
path takes me, through my art and through my ever-changing relationship with
this beautiful planet that is home to all beings!
I have a unique blend of two main inspirations that I am exploring. The first comes from a deep connection to childlike wonder and whimsy, which would best be described as an inner magic (yes, I still believe in fairies!) The second comes from a renewed love for the natural world, as I often went to woodland trails during my healing journey. I still go to nature to be soothed and inspired.
While my career in art is still fairly new, I have had the opportunity to paint many pet portraits and other unique commissions, have had my artwork on display at a lovely local Prince George bookstore, Books & Company, have taught watercolor painting classes, and have illustrated for a children's book written by A.J. Mittendorf, called Carnival of the Animals, published in 2016. I have regularly created artwork for auction since 2019 for both Pacific Wild and the Takaya Lone Wolf Arts Festival, two charities very dear to me, to support conservation and wildlife protection in BC.
I have been enjoying developing my skills in both acrylic and watercolor painting, while exploring other mixed media additions. I truly enjoy painting the details required for realism however flairs of whimsy can often be found in my work, such as glitter highlights, vibrant use of color or metallics, and added touches of magic revealed within otherwise more natural landscapes.
“I can’t even describe to you how perfectly you captured Bo. I had tears running down my face, it was like he was in the kitchen with me again. Thank you so much for bringing him to life for us.” ~ Karli Simons
“Such an amazing gift, Kendall. Thank you so much for doing this, it means more than you could ever know. There are no words to describe how much you moved us, and how unbelievable your painting is. We love it so so so much!” ~ Regan Daoust
“The love and care Kendall puts into her art is apparent in every brush stroke. The details make every piece come to life. She is a brilliant artist.” ~ Margaret Fullerton
“Kendall is a genuine, spirited and beautiful soul and that shows in her art. She is dedicated to her vision and her attention to detail as well as the message she wants to convey is to be admired. She is just all around an amazing being!” ~ Maura Cowie
How do I express that every being on Earth is interconnected, that every day we get to experience is a gift, and that we can choose to support one another on our healing journeys and live in a way that values all expressions of life? How do I connect all that I love in the natural world and the wisdom I see in animals with the magical possibilities I experience in my inner self? These are the questions I am exploring through my art. I know that we are all reflections of Consciousness, and every time I tap into creative ideas and pour my love into the details of my work, I hope to share some of the joy, inspiration, and wonder that I feel.
